At Utopia or Mount Vernon in Virginia? At The Hermitage in Tennessee? Or at the Seville Estate in Jamaica? Have you visited the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery (www.daacs.org<http://www.daacs.org>) and wanted to learn more about how the website works and how to query the data? Now’s your chance! DAACS staff will have a table set up in the book room at the Society for Historical Archaeology meetings to assist our users in learning more about the sites in our database and how to navigate the DAACS website to conduct research. Please stop by and see us anytime on Thursday. We'll also be at the table Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Check out DAACS in action on Friday at the day-long Hermitage Symposium.
In addition to website tutorials DAACS staff will be conducting usability testing as a part of a NEH-funded overhaul of the DAACS website. The testing will take 20-30 minutes and consist of one to two guided exercises that ask users to accomplish a few tasks on the DAACS website. The feedback will help improve user performance and satisfaction. As thanks for your time and feedback, you’ll receive DAACS swag and a $5 Café Du Monde gift certificate!
