Here's the calculation behind the 288,000 minutes in ~200 days from the beginning of October to the middle of April:
200 days x 24 hours/day x 60 minutes/hour = 288,000 minutes
Your math was right John, for some reason my phone slit that number and it looked like 28 8000 My apologies.
I tried digging a bit on humidity exchange last night but no clear numbers. I am however quite sure that there is no way my average hives move 10 liters of air per minute during the winter I could see 1 maybe 2, but 10 no way. That would be a noticeable draft in and out of the entrance
There is some info on the absobitive rate of the wood but not sure how paint applies.
I have seen hives many many times with droplets in them. I am wondering if that may be the real key, droplet formation and then the droplets running out of the hive over the winter?
