There used to be a Staffordshire video about the etching process, but I couldn't find it. The plate was then inked. A tissue paper was laid on top (transferring the design from plate to tissue). Then the tissue paper was laid on the ceramic. Check out the TCC website for tons of great information about transferwares, plus a database for identifying and dating patterns. https://www.transferwarecollectorsclub.org/ Mary On Tue, Apr 6, 2021 at 3:00 PM Terry Majewski <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > My understanding is that they were punched into the copper plate by hand > as part of the design. > > Teresita Majewski, Ph.D., RPA, FSA | Executive Vice President > Statistical Research, Inc.| 3170 East Fort Lowell Road, Tucson, AZ 85716 > Office (520) 721-4309 | Cell (520) 907-9677 | www.sricrm.com<http://www.sricrm.com> > > Statistical Research, Inc., is a certified woman-owned small business that > has provided Cultural Resource Management and Historic Preservation > services since 1983. > > This communication is confidential and is intended only for the use of the > individual or entity named above.
