Position Summary
The Maxwell Museum of Anthropology seeks a Teaching Lab Supervisor to manage the Laboratory of Human Osteology. This person will supervise a laboratory and manage human osteological museum collections. Participates in the planning, development, and implementation of laboratory, clinical,
and/or field research within a biological anthropological specialization. Designs and executes standard research studies concerning bioarchaeology, forensic anthropology, skeletal and dental biology, and related fields. Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets data, and contributes as appropriate to the development of summary reports, presentations, and manuscripts associated with research findings. The successful
candidate may be expected to work on multiple projects and provide scientific input on direction and analyses. Organizing and providing materials commonly used in several anthropology courses, including courses that meet basic university requirements (151L, 351L, and several others). Oversee compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Working closely with student employees regarding safety in the work place, at the Lab and, on occasion, at the Office of the Medical Investigator.

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters or PHD in Anthropology or a related discipline
Experience working in a research laboratory with dry and fresh human remains
Firm understanding of research methods, protocols, procedures, techniques, and
equipment in an anthropology research laboratory.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to students in human
osteology, bioarchaeology or forensic anthropology.
Knowledge and understanding of scientific method.
Knowledge of common business, database, and statistical software.
Experience with anthropological collections management.
Experience complying with NAGPRA and other relevant laws and regulations.
Demonstrated experience with writing and publishing scientific research and grant
proposals.
