Thanks for that Will. I read your 2015 ABJ article.
My Google search for more Varroa-free hb locations on the Planet is ragged-ended; a work in progress.
Somoa was Varroa-free as of 2012 with ~400 colonies. Iceland ~300 colonies. Greenland ~20-60 colonies? Ole Guldager is/was a key beekeeper in Greenland.
In addition to Kaua’i, Maui, and Molokai, the Island of Lanai in the Hawaiian archipelago is also Varroa-free. I have no colony numbers for these islands. Are there any Hawaiian beekeepers on BEE-L, who can supply numbers?
Also, the Kufra oasis in southeastern Libya is apparently Varroa-free.
Robben Island (South Africa) may have lost its Varroa-free status.
I’ve heard of one very isolated pinpoint of Varroa-freeness in B.C. I don’t know about elsewhere in northern Canada. These isolated spots are hard to locate.
