> if a particular hive, or hives, in one's apiary have a particularly virulent strain, wouldn't it be a wise thing to treat it at a higher level than as just background noise?

1) how will you know if a hive has a " particularly virulent strain" of virus?

2) how will you treat it?

3) Nobody I know regards viruses as "background noise."
