ORIGINS AND TRENDS OF RELIGION
A project in conceptual anthropology

Dear colleagues and friends,
How come that the bipedal primate invented religion? Do other primates
have similar conceptual expressions? Religions and their beliefs,
myths and rituals, are archetypes of culture, exposing the nature of
the human mind. The monuments, the art they inspired and other
material remains they produced, are paramount sources to the
logical/illogical intellective processing of realities and
unrealities. The course of cultural dynamics tends to propose new
trends and delete what is retained to be obsolete. It also tends to
remove or shade both the memory and the relics of past intellectual
and spiritual adventures. The conceptual heritage of prehistoric and
tribal cultures is a primary factor of asserting social and ethnic
identity, a mean of socialization, an expression of beliefs, feelings
and emotions, and an immense source for understanding a basic
processing of the human mind. It is a major intellectual and spiritual
patrimony of humanity, which is part of our past and present
expression of being human. It is at risk of fading off and it is
crucial to save it from oblivion, to memorize and understand what is
still preserved in native traditions, and in whatever may be inferred
from ancient relics, in the records of archeologists and
anthropologists and in popular traditions. Research is progressing and
a growing understanding of the conceptual trends of the human mind is
opening up new landscapes on its behavioral patterns. Even what
appears as minor may turn out to be relevant. Memorizing this precious
heritage demands a joint effort. Can you contribute to this endeavor?
If you have pertinent knowledge or ideas or both, your involvement is
important. It would be a contribution to the decryption of human
rational and irrational performance, to understanding something more
about our own conceptual nature. You are welcome to share the
experience of this research, to propose your ideas and your knowledge
to the EXPRESSION quarterly journal and to share them with
institutions and scholars in five continents. (Links enclosed).
It would be a pleasure hearing from you,
Cordial regards and best wishes,
The team of
