Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and
energetic candidate to fill the position of Patterson Center Archaeologist
at the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Lab.  This is a full-time
Contractual position with the Maryland Historical Trust /Jefferson
Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM), located within the Maryland Department of
Planning.  JPPM, the State Museum of Archaeology and a center for both
regional and statewide archaeological research, is located on 560 acres
along the Patuxent River in Calvert County, Maryland and is home to the
Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab) which houses over
9 million artifacts.

The Archaeologist will conduct excavations in advance of construction
activities during the Patterson Center Project at Jefferson Patterson Park
and Museum, monitor those activities to make sure no unexpected historical
resources are destroyed by them, process the artifacts recovered, and write
a report on the findings.

Minimum Qualifications are a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year
college or university in Anthropology, Archaeology, History or a related
field and a minimum of three years of archaeological field experience.

Desired or preferred qualifications include  a graduate degree in
Anthropology, Archaeology, History or a related field;  experience doing
archaeology in the Mid-Atlantic region, knowledge of 19th-century artifacts
and the ability to identify them and demonstrated experience in writing
professional-quality reports, papers, or articles.
