Greetings Lauren,
A couple of years ago, I recall a movement to involve individuals who are
challenged by autism in lab work--perhaps fieldwork as well, I only recall
lab work--and I have included two links about the effort:
https://www.academia.edu/9978440/Autism_in_Archaeology?auto=download ,
https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/20518196.2018.1477038?journalCode=ycah20;
I'm
sure more online resources exist about this specific topic.
I don't know what became of the idea, but perhaps others on this list do.
I hope this helps or gives you another path upon which to head down.
my best,
mike gregory
