Hi,
We are pulling together a SAA session on lessons learned from the use of
archival documents, combined with archaeological data, to enhance our
understanding of the institution of American slavery, communities of the
enslaved, and enslaved individuals. Claire has some interesting insights
learned from her community-engaged research project. For example, she is
crowd sourcing transcriptions of county property deeds to pull out
information about people in bondage. I started from the archaeological side
and ended up in the digital archives that Claire is working to expand.
If you are interested in joining us, please send an email at one of our
individual addresses by the end of this week or give me a call.
Sincerely,
Linda [log in to unmask]
