Are you looking at a specific time period?  Or region? Log crib construction was very common for the construction of wharves and docks (the topic of my never completed Master's thesis). Crib construction has been used for a very long time. I am presently documenting an 1890 log crib founded reservoir dam in rural New Mexico.

Can anyone pint me in the direction of resources concerning log crib dam
construction. Thanks in advance!
