The Tennessee Division of Archaeology did a study of WWII sites in Tennessee, recording maneuver areas, bombing and artillery ranges, prisoner of war camps, bivouac areas, etc. This "Report of Investigations #13" can be found along with other Division Publications on our website:

Having a harder-than-thought time locating online Research Designs for
Military World War II sites (not battlefields).
Bases, defensive works come to mind.
Finding lots on World War II era housing, work camps and such, but nothing
specifically military.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Robin Mills
