There is the Heritage Press Museum at 346 N. Queen St in Lancaster, PA (717-394-7201) with an educator and exhibit in the warehouses in downtown.

I was told that there are four foundries left in the USA that produce type and that the one in PA is shutting down. I’ve suggested that it be fully video’d and historically documented prior to demolition, but I do now know if any of those whom I contacted acted on it.

I have found some discussion of type from Germany, but was wondering if anyone in the US had undertaken xrf or other analysis of archaeologically sourced printing type. We have 17th c. printing type from William Nuthead's press that operated in St. Mary's City in the third quarter of the 17th c.
