Mike Smoke Pfeiffer published "Clay Tobacco Pipes and the Fur Trade of the Pacific Northwest and Northern Plains" HISTORIC CLAY TOBACCO PIPE STUDIES Research Monograph 1 in 2006. It covers much of the period.

Byron Sudbury edited 3 volumes of the Historic Clay Tobacco Pipe Studies 1980, 1983, 1986.

Subject: Clay smoking pipes

Can someone please recommend a good reference book on clay smoking pipes? I need references to pipes dating circa 1800-1940.
Thanks,
S. Walter
