I had to check this. From 'Bees of the World' ( Christopher O'Toole and Anthony Raw):
The Bombinae are divided into two tribes: Bombini and Euglossini.
The Bombini are the True Bumble Bees all of which live in temporary eusocial colonies - and these were the ones to which I referred.
The Euglossini are restricted to the American tropics. Some of these species are solitary, others are communal and some may be quasisocial.
