According to Tom Dadant, and I suppose Stamets, when polypore mycelium is ingested it upregulates immune enzymes like Cytochrome P450 but I don't know if the actual science on the mycelium upregulation of P450 has been done. In his Nature article, he didn't offer the enzyme hypothesis all he did was measure virus titers before and after feedings.
