In league with Aaron I believe that a bit of levity is good for the list so here is a true story.

Some years back while marking a batch of newly mated queens I had a queen in one hand and my marking stick in the other when to my surprise right on the thorax of the young beauty...  I saw a mite. Let my say that I have never seen a mite on a queen before or since and this mating nuc was not even heavily infested. What to do? I marked her and saw a tiny blue spot rush off and into the colony. Being of a scientific mindset I kept a sharp eye out but alas I never saw her again. More research is clearly needed.
