What was my surprise, when some students claimed some Varroas were still alive and moving. At first, I said it was not possible because they had been minimun 3 weeks without a meal. But yes, some were still alive. How is it possible ? 

Varroa mites can also eat micro organisms as do other ticks and many insects.
