Tracy, could of be CBPV? That would explain the piles of dead bees on the ground in front of entrances. After viewing the Natl Honey Show video
where CBPV was moderately discussed along with EFB & AFB, the entomologist mentioned a stressor associated with CBPV which was the weather; lots of rain keeping large clusters of bees in the hive where they transmit this virus through the broken hairs on their bodies from rubbing up on each other. That was what we experienced weather wise where I am last Summer/Fall.
