Tylosin is one of the many macrolide bacteriostatic antibiotics. Bacterostatic simply means it does not kill the target microbes, but rather prevents them from multiplying until the organisms immune system is able to mop up the living disease cells. While tylosin is not used in humans other macrolides are widely used in humans. For example erythromycin. Cross resistance would be expected.
