Does anyone have experience with field testing nectar availability and
if so, can you please describe how you went about it?
The immediate concern is not wanting to mow a field of Goldenrod and
Aster if there is decent nectar availability there. There was almost 2"
of rain following a summer long drought. Bees are foraging somewhere
else. There are some yellow jackets foraging. While nectar availability
is a concern for Honey bees, it is also a concern for native pollinators.
I'm somewhat familiar with the nectar gathering procedures described in
Coloss (http://www.coloss.org/beebook/I/misc-methods/4/7/3/2). Meaning
I've read the procedures but haven't tried them out yet.
