Maples are a good example. Three or four days in the 50s F and the soft maples bloom.
Interesting thought, but what then triggers the actual sap run? It starts well before that in most areas right after the solistice. For us here in central IL, if you want till mid Jan you missed the sap run, even though bloom is 3/4 weeks away? Seems something triggers that prep. Always found it interesting that sap runs, when there is ice in the bucket. Trees and ground temps must be slightly higher.
