I have not found a good answer to this:
1) do hybrid bees from docile parents in general exhibit more
defensiveness, or is it that a few bad examples stick out? (seems to be
true for AHB)
2) is there any explanation or research on this? Mutt dogs are not more
aggressive, why would bees.
>to my understanding and experience quite a common history of hybrids is the first cross (F2) can be a bit testy. testy or aggressive can be a quite relative term but become more noticed if the parent stock was selected for being docile or easy to work. in genetics the outcome I consider to be a good example of 'regression to the mean'.
>at least for myself I choose docile stock to produce queen cells but controlling drone population is something I cannot totally control.
