Some do.
I first heard about this from David Eyre of Beeworks (beeworks.com) in
Orillia, Ontario.

In a given box, less wax, more honey and extracts more easily with less wet
honey returned to the hive.

As Dan mentioned, Acorn makes one piece plastic medium drone comb, which
Pierco does not.
