Eric retired some years ago, as did Gerry Loper.  Gerry forwarded this to me and others today:

 
"It  grieves me tremendously to tell you that Eric passed away last night.  He  was diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer which took him far too  soon.  There will be a Memorial Service for him sometime next week.  I  will pass that information on as I receive the exact details.
