I'm looking for field proven methods to keep a small number of queens for
as long as two weeks during the season. Never more than a half dozen.

My previous method, jzbz caged queens hung from top bar in a medium super,
had some casualties last year. Worked fine for several previous years.

I suspect there's a basic, fundamental trick I'm missing. I make
replacement queens and control swarming with Snelgrove boards. Usually end
up with a few extras and like to keep them around for local distribution.
That's worked out well for five years now, basically because I limit myself
to no more than a couple dozen colonies.

Set me straight on queen banks. The simpler the better. Thanks.

Cheers, Michael Jaross
