>I want to move a hive about 30 feet. Most advice is 3 feet or 3 miles but differs for short moves. Generally they are to close up the hive for up to
3 days and move them in that period, then put a branch or other impediment in front of the hive to make them reorient.
3 miles might be enough but I would go further.
I have shifted a hive within a yard by shifting it about 2 yards each night till I researched the desired location. Did not have to shut up the hive. No problems with bees re-locating each day.
