The shells (exines) don't get "cracked open" during fermentation--see my
article (with photos) on the subject at my website.

I doubt that the two are that strongly linked. You may still be crazy.
That said, the vitamin issue is of great interest. But don't assume that a
vitamin to a human is also a vitamin to a bee. For example, 24-methylene
cholesterol is a vitamin to a bee, but not to a human.
