I visited Guelph a few years ago and saw how they run bees with one deep for brood and supers above that. (I have always run bees without excluders.) They told me they take ALL the honey, and feed syrup after the harvest. Sure, you can increase your honey production by skinning the bees but I prefer them to live on their own honey, not syrup. I may be old fashioned, but there it is. I question whether _actual_ honey production is increased by confining the queen to one box, but nobody has run a side by side trial that I know of. Show me
