An occurrence today at the EAS conference seems significant to share
regarding drifting.
An observation hive totally closed, but well ventilated was left 50 yards
away from the bee wrangler yard where about 25 examination hives were set.
After three hours I discovered "drifting" or curious bees, 50 or more
attending this small observation hive. They were aggregating at the vents,
as if attempting to enter.
We might wonder if these were confused senile foragers (no pollen seen) or
possibly potential robber bees, as there was a little honey in the
observation hive.
