An entomologist friend sent me this link:
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10493-017-0157-3
Basically, they found that continuous release of Oregano oil was more effective than a Oxalic Acid on a cardboard pad, Oregano & Clove oil on a pad, or doing nothing, with little impact on the bees.
They reported 97% efficacy with the continuous release method, as opposed to 57.8% efficacy for Oregano & Clove oil, and 76.5% for the OA pad.
Efficacy? Does that mean that an alcohol wash after the four weeks of treatment resulted in 97% fewer mites than before?
They used two Febreze oil warmers plugged in to an extension cord and placed on a screen on top of the the hive in a medium super.
They tracked 24 colonies, six in each of the treatment condition, and six as controls.
So, who's going to start marketing Oregano vaporizers first?
