Cost difference is pretty substantial for me (I use fume boards made from
what amounts to scrap pine and leftover flashing for telescoping covers).
When you factor in shipping etc on small orders of strips every year since
I usually only run 10-20 hives it was way way cheaper to buy a 5 gallon
pail of formic locally and have a decades or more worth.  Had good luck so
far.
