I'm looking for info on 18th or 19th century survey marks inscribed on rocks or rock faces, done for Public Land Surveys or small local surveys. If anyone has any experience with these, or knows good references, I'd appreciate hearing about them. I'm working on a project trying to determine the origin of small boulders marked with letters and symbols that appear to be survey or mapping symbols. I can send pictures to anyone interested.
