Archaeologist and Archaeological Technician Positions
Marienville, Ridgway and Sheffield Districts
Allegheny National Forest
The Allegheny National Forest is planning to fill 8 seasonal Heritage Resources
positions (Archaeologists and Archaeological Technicians) on three districts
for the 1995 field season.
The ANF is recruiting individuals who meet the X-118 qualifications for the
following positions:
GS 102-3 Archaeological Aides
GS 102-4 Archeological Technician
GS 102-5 Archaeological Technician
GS 102-5 Archaeologist
GS 102-7 Archaeologist (1 position, Ridgway District)
Salary Range: S7.40 per hour to S11.51 per hour
Term of Employment: These are temporary positions which are not to exceed 1039
hours (approximately 6 months or less). Approximate dates of employment are
from May 1, 1995 through September or October of 1995.
Work Schedule: All incumbents will be expected to work together in set
schedules. The work week is Monday through Friday, totalling 80 hours in a
two-week period.
Primary Duties: Depending upon skills and position level, incumbents for these
positions can expect to conduct or participate in archaeological surveys to
locate and document historic and prehistoric resources.
Housing: A limited amount of government housing may be available (at cost to
employee). Housing is located in Sheffield; Incumbent will be responsible for
providing own transportation to and from duty stations.
Employee Benefits: Incumbent is entitled to at least 4 hours of Annual Leave
per pay period (biweekly) and is entitled to holiday pay on National Holidays
that occur during the incumbent's term of employment (incumbent must be in pay
status). Incumbent is not entitled to health insurance, life insurance or
retirement programs. Moving expenses are the responsibility of the incumbent.
Miscellaneous Requirements: Incumbent must have a valid state drivers license.
