So, it turns out that the process of photosynthesis itself can be enhanced,
with tangible gains for sugar production in the plant.
(No idea if this makes for higher sugar content in nectar, but I'd doubt
it.)
This is pretty amazing stuff, as there does not seem to be any downside to
the tweak.
We live in an age of miracles - not so long ago "hunger and starvation"
wasn't even viewed as a problem, it was simply a fact of life for the bulk
of the planet.
Since then, we have slowly gotten better at feeding everyone.
