>Varroa is the number one problem for our industry.  The inevitable solution is clear--beekeepers will eventually be keeping mite-resistant stock as the norm.  How soon that happens is up to us.



A little bit of help from science would be nice.. Some research groups are looking for varroa resistance genetic markers, which would simplify breeding programs, eg. https://aristabeeresearch.org/program/project-gvar/

Ideally, we need bees that are disease resistant, but also gentle and productive. I guess we'll be counting mites for a while.
