Is there any way to tell what flowers HONEY comes from, other than looking at the pollen?
Appearance, taste, texture. Ivy honey can be crunchy with citrus flavours. Fuchsia honey looks like water. Ragwort honey is yellow and cloudy. Heather (ling) honey forms a gel. Rape honey sets rapidly, is pale and can taste of cabbages. Chestnut honey is dark and clear with a strong flavour. Manuka honey is dark and tastes of Savlon (antiseptic cream). However, in most areas, away from industrial agriculture, there will be a mixture of wild and garden flowers and every batch will taste different.
