I agree with Charles. In southeastern states and in CA, I've observed several of our largest queen producers - looking for pattern, pinching off duds is a common practice. Of course, if you've 50,000 baby nuc boxes, you can afford to wait a few more days - as long as everything is on the same queen catching schedule.
