I'd agree. Looks like this spear originally was a trident with three tines;
this remnant retains the central tine, but the top and bottom prongs (in
the photo) are gone.  Use of the artifact might be better understood if you
can find any local tradition of modifying fishing/eel tridents in this
manner--were they used in some other way, after the outer tines were
removed?
