I appreciate your essay, Jim, but feel that you have entirely missed the
point. It is the anti-GMO activism that created the problems you mention.
Without it, any rice farmer would have the option of planting a
beta-carotene rich rice if he chose to, and the consumers could then decide
on the benefits.
