Thanks Steve; I have read about different test that agree with what you say and have no reason to doubt that, but when I study the different compounds independently I have to wonder if there may be more than one use for the Nasonov (Nassanoff) gland (by chance or by design). Geraniol is sold has an insect (tick) repellant and so I ask, does it have a similar effect on Varroa mites? So far I have not found any studies that have tested the ideal. Could the Nasonov gland on a bee act like the scent gland on a skunk attracts some, repels others?
