In regards to the BIP survey, I for one will say that answering the survey
has made me a better beekeeper.

When it started asking questions of how many hives I owned on a certain
date, or what was the most hives I owned, I couldn't tell you. I could say
I started (in January) with 20, made splits, caught swarms, lost hives, and
ended with 25, but what happened inbetween was the unknown.

So I started keeping records of that information. When I gained a hive,
where, from where, and why. When I lost a hive, where and why. The records
make me better able to answer the BIP survey, but mainly let me learn more
about my own mistakes than I knew before I was taking those records.
