Can anyonecomment on bee's behavior where they fully cap honey (full frames) and when pulledthe moisture is 19%.
>I had always assumed this was more about the context of the landscape than about bee behavior. A bit south of here were they often collect a bumper crop of Chinese Tallow honey. The landscaped there is extremely humid and almost without exception the crop is wet and requires a good deal of processing just to get the honey to the point where it will not spoil. One of the early folks to take advantage of the tallow (he ran the Dadant store up in Paris Texas) use to tell a pretty sad story about how his first crop of Tallow honey all came to a pretty sad end < basically after capturing several hundred barrels of Tallow honey he left for about a week to move bees to the Texas Panhandle and when he returned the barrel tops had blown off and filled his very nice honey house with 3 feet of oozing sticky foam.
