Hi
In poor light conditions I use a small flashlight (torch in the UK) to
check for eggs/young larva. I have just been given a "Defiant LED Tactical
Flashlight" purchased in the USA but made in China which comes with health
warnings "never look into the light" and "never shine the light into the
face of someone else".
Having looked around some on-line forums I am fairly sure that this is
conservative advice for this LED light in normal use, although a laser
light source could definitely be hazardous.
However, could there be some effect on the vision of the bees from the LED
flashlight? For example, they have no eyelids or blink reflexes to rely
on.
