Yes, and the converse may be possible as well. I had untreated colonies last fall with 10 - 15% infestation rates showing good brood patterns and no overt disease. These colonies survived winter have made a good honey crop this year. It may be that the viruses in this population are less virulent, that the all honey diet is bolstering immunity to the viruses, or perhaps it’s a combination of both and/or other factors.
