The World Animal Health Organization (O.I.E.) has just sent an alert, informing about the reoccurence of 4 Small Hive Beetle outbreaks (involving 14 colonies) in southern Italy, where this pest had allegedly been erradicated by December of year 2014.

I always suspected how Italy could ever get rid of Aethina tumida when neither Australia, nor Hawaii could do it. A total of 250 colonies were destroyed this time to fight back these new outbreaks.

Time will tell about their success.
