> when responding to a BEE-L post
Personally, I read and respond to Bee-L online, in the browser. I cut away everything but the briefest context and write after that. Sometimes I compose the message in MS Word and then paste it in.
In my work life, I find that there are two types of emails: 1) carefully formatted ones, and 2) ones that include endless quotes going back days or even weeks. I have no idea why people do that, other than pure laziness.
Also, it's just me but I hate careless spelling. My computer spell checks while I am typing, of course, but I also look at what I have written and try not to let the messages go out with numerous errors.
