Mike, I use Gmail, so don't know if this will help.
What I did here was to hit reply, and then clear everything off the mail.
Then I simply cut and pasted your sentence, leading it with a ">" to
indicate that it was quoted material.
Then I hit "enter" twice to create a space, and started typing.
I like the convention of indicating quotes by preceding them with a ">"
All regulars other than ET appear to use this convention.
