Just hived my first swarm for this, the 2017, season.  Was about 3# of bees.  I'm located 1/2 way between Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama (85 miles in each direction by highway). Mike in LA

We've had (mostly silver) maple pollen and nectar coming in for about a
week.  It's an important source of pollen to get the bees through March,
our snowiest month. Before maples, some chicken feed comes in.  Both are a
light grayish yellow.
