Hi Peter and All
Brampton Ontario was nicknamed Rosetown prior to the mid 70s, due to
the large acreage under glass producing cut flowers. The green
houses are mostly gone and local cut flower retailers sell imported
roses etc. As the paper states, a live mite was found on a flower
shipped from Holland. Could this be the suspected original route of
mites to North America? How do border officials protect against this
kind of importation? What other pests have or will be imported in
this manner.
